Japan ; Celebration of Saint Marie Eugenie in Minoo

Japon

Assumption Minoo Primary School holds Chapel Time every Friday morning. The theme on the 4th March was on Saint Marie Eugenie who is very familiar to all the students. Sr Clare Joseph gave a short talk about SME’s early life in easy English followed by a brief translation in Japanese. Then a short animation on Saint Marie Eugenie was shown. It was taken from YouTube in Portuguese with the help of Sr Ana Regina Massako, it was translated to Japanese. In the end, students prayed together to Saint Marie Eugenie asking for her intercession. It is really wonderful to know Saint Marie Eugenie as a person who said YES to God, otherwise there is no Assumption Sisters nor Assumption Schools in the world !

On the 5th of March, Saturday in the afternoon, Assumption Together Minoo gathered in Minoo Provincial house. About 15 lay people with sisters attended. First we prayed in the chapel using the homily given on the occasion of the memorial mass of canonization of SME given by Msgr. Mizobe, who passed away recently. His homily was focused on her important role in the 19th century French society, it was very meaningful to the participants. After taking a tea break, we listened to Sr Makoto’s conference on Mother Therese Emmanuel whom the paricipants are not familiar with. This kind of conference on MTE is really first time in the Province. After the talk we watched the slide show on MTE and Lubeck made by Ms Madoka Inui, a graduate who visited Auteuil at the end of last year. One graduate who joined the gathering said that this would be the beginning of knowing the history of our roots in detail, saying “I want to know more !”
