The month of April will remain engraved in golden letters in the history of one of the oldest secondary school in Koudougou, namely the “Collège Sainte Monique”, for it celebrated its fifty years of life from 22 to 27 April 2013.
Several activities were on the schedule : ceremonies of prayers, a mass in memory of the dead, a conference about the history of the school, a feminine football match, photos exhibition, blessing of the libraries and shrine of the school, honorary distinctions, a testimony from Sister Ines FONSECA (a Sister of the Holy Family Spain in service in Bobo-Dioulasso)
An exceptional and lively mass brought the commemorative activities to an end on Saturday, April 27. The bishop of the diocese of Koudougou himself, Joachim OUEDRAOGO presided over the mass. It was covered by the national T.V. channel and local ones.
Hundreds of pupils, many former pupils, parents of pupils and many personalities from all over the country and abroad (Côte d’Ivoire) came and attended the mass.
Sister Ines FONSECA found the moment solemn and took the opportunity to thank God for her fifty years of religious devotion, under the protection and guidance of the Almighty (1963 – 2013).
A copious meal was offered to all the guests at the end of the mass and they ate their fill. A night show was organized in two big bars (Stade de France and le Jardin du Maire) to allow people to enjoy themselves.
May God bless the “Collège Sainte Monique de Koudougou” and give it the chance to celebrate uncountable other golden jubilees.
