On this special Time of Our Lord, marked by celebrations – the Year of Consecrated Life for the Universal Church and the Year of the Poor for the Philippine Church, Year 2015 ; the launching of the Jubilee Year of Mercy on December 8, 2015 ; the launching of the Bicentenary of Birth of St. Marie Eugenie and Therese Emmanuel of the Religious of the Assumption – we join Pope Francis in praising God, ‘Laudato Si’.
Let us journey this Advent Season embracing the mission of the church, as Teilhard de Chardin expressed it as “the christification of the universe and the personalization of divine love at the heart of cosmic life.” (from Lex credendi, lex vivendi : A response to Laudato Si’ by Ilia Delio)
In this Advent Journey Guide, we will read the Word of God ; meditate on Laudato Si’ and Misericordiae Vultus ; contemplate and pray so as to be able to act, and celebrate an integral and an inclusive Advent and Christmas Season.
The Earth is Our Common Home. Home of creatures and generations before us. Home of future generations to come. God’s home, the place where He pitched His tent and embraced our humanity. The earth is the space where the mystery of creation and the mystery of incarnation form a single mystery of divine love.
Let us start the journey by being fully present in the NOW. CONNECT with what is within and without, and with everything visible and invisible. Be more conscious of our interconnectedness with the environment. Be attentive to the invitations to embrace and to expand. “Because all creatures are connected, each must be cherished with love and respect, for all of us as living creatures are dependent on one another.” (par. 42 – Laudato Si)
“By virtue of Creation, and still more the Incarnation, nothing here below is profane for those who know how to see.” - Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
“The misuse of creation begins when we no longer recognize any higher instance than ourselves, when we see nothing else but ourselves” - Pope Benedict XVI
