The Liturgy is the backbone our religious life. We cannot separate our life from the liturgy. Saint Marie Eugenie handed us a very distinctive lifestyle that is contemplative and active. It is very similar to that is lived by monastic orders. The contemplative consist of reading the scripture and praying. It is in the liturgy that God reveals his mystery to us, and on the other hand, we join him in celebration. We also communicate with him. Our life as religious is centered in the incarnation of Jesus through the liturgy.
Liturgy for as is a mission that we received from the church, and we must live it fully. Mother Marie Eugenie insisted on combining the recitation of the office in the choir with the apostolate. We don’t have optional rather than live the liturgical prayers as missionaries. It is an illusion to believe that we don’t have enough time for praying and working. God has given us enough time to do everything he has called us to do. Some spend more time in prayers, and others more time in the apostolate or work.
Liturgy is an act of setting people free ; it is an act of liberation. It frees us from the spirit of individualism that can hinder us from having a good relationship with others.
When we celebrate the liturgy, we are like an open door. God comes in and dwells in us and as in Him. We are incarnated. It also calls us to inculturation, to enter deeply into the mystery of Christ in the life of the church and people. We are called to participate in people’s History, their experiences, and their expressions.
In preparing Liturgy, we are called to be creative, without seeking to be original
Challenges in living Assumption liturgy as our life
It seems there no skills playing a musical instrument ; it should be good for each province to form the sisters on this field. Young people should be interested in learning music as a professional.
Divine office is routine ; there is a call to being creative in preparing the office, prepare the office ahead of time.
On time management, we should always be conscious of the time in the community. As individuals, it is advisable to respond God’s call when he is calling you to a certain project, but you have to discern that as a community.
Physical tiredness affects presence in the liturgy ; there is a call for each one to be flexible and sensitive, to each member of the community.
The community should see the Liturgy as a priority since it is our life. It is a mission given to us in the church. We should consider the elements that we need for us to live liturgical life fully, this includes setting time to learn new songs and practice to sing well even what we know them, but at the same time respect the silence and solitude. Give enough space to the Lord.
We need to listen to the Psalms while we are singing, pay attention to each word you pronounce. It is very important, pause while singing the psalm. It gives us time contemplate what we are reciting, and it makes us remember those words. When we are singing the psalms are accomplishing the mission given to us by the church, Jesus prayed the same Psalm, Marie our mother prayed too, so we have a chance to share the same prayer with our Lord. Every word you pronounced in the Psalm has a meaning, and unless we listen, we cannot understand, and we will remain doubts.
Our moods affect the liturgy ; we should learn to offer everything to God and avoid delaying the community due to our moods, moods causes distraction in the community. Saint Marie Eugenie said we should see each other every day with the new eye.
